The short version of a longer story
Background
My background is in psychology. I kept seeing people struggle with software that was supposed to help them. So I went into design to work out why that kept happening.
Design Philosophy
I design from evidence. Research is how I work out where a product and the people using it stop communicating, and design is how I close the gap.
Dark patterns research
I chose dark patterns as my dissertation subject, testing whether certain personality types spot them more easily. They don’t. Clarity and trust are at the core of my work, protecting the people using the products and the businesses behind them.
Outside of work
I don’t seem to get enough problem solving during the week, because I spend my weekends bouldering. Same thing really: stare at the problem, try the obvious approach, watch it not work, find the way that does.
